Christie Brinkley says 'DWTS' injury is 'a little bit worse than I thought' (Exclusive)

Christie Brinkley is still dealing with the aftermath of her broken arm.

The supermodel, 65, stepped out for the 2019 Footwear News Achievement Awards in New York City on Tuesday night, where she gave AOL's Gibson Johns an update on the injury that forced her out of "Dancing With the Stars" back in September before the competition even begun.

"It’s doing okay. It was just a little bit worse than I thought it would be," Brinkley, wearing a hand brace, explained to AOL exclusively. "It’s taken a lot longer [to heal] than I thought it would."

Just two days before the latest season of "DWTS" kicked off in mid-September, Brinkley announced that she had fallen during training and would be replaced by her daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook, in the dancing competition. The fall left her with multiple broken bones and forced her to get surgery on her right wrist.

The model, who is right-handed, told AOL this week that she's still struggling to complete everyday tasks during her recovery period.

"The back of my head [is difficult to reach] because I also hurt my shoulder," Brinkley explained, reaching her arm up. "So, if I’m trying to get back there, I have to try to do it with the left hand, but I can’t quite get the hair dryer and the brush… it’s very hard. Makeup with my left hand, though, I’ve actually gotten pretty good at!"

Brinkley was on-hand at the 2019 FNAA to present Donna Karan and Kenneth Cole with the Icon Award for Social Impact, one year after she won the Style Influencers of the Year Award with daughters Sailor and Alexa Ray Joel. For her presenting gig, she wore a black belted Tom Ford dress and sparkling Off-White booties.

Other stars in attendance at the Footwear News Achievement Awards 2019 were Paris and Nicky Hilton, Billy Porter, Adriana Lima, J Balvin and more:
