‘Days of Our Lives’ Fans Livid as Network Loses 750,000 Viewers After Move From NBC to Peacock: “A Huge Mistake”

Perhaps moving Days of Our Lives to streaming was not the best idea for NBC. The network, which officially moved the long-running soap opera to Peacock earlier this month, is reported to have lost nearly 750,000 viewers since replacing it with NBC News Daily.

According to ShowBiz 411the soap opera was averaging 1.6 million viewers per day on NBC. Meanwhile, the news hour that replaced Days only brought in 935,000 viewers last week, resulting in a loss of around 750,000 viewers for the network.

Viewers of the show were furious when the final airing of Days on NBC before its jump to streaming was cut short by King Charles III’s speech following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. And despite the stars feeling “very optimistic” about the future of the show, which has been on for 57 years, many fans are not echoing the same sentiment.

“Do you think that NBC is now realizing that they made a huge mistake with moving #DaysOfOurLives to Peacock and replaced it with NBC News Daily?” one asked.

Someone else added, “NBC News Daily is already a colossal FAIL. I love to see these bad numbers. NBC you should have kept Days of Our Lives on. We were getting DOUBLE NBC News Daily numbers. Learn from your mistake NBC, return Days back to its proper time slot.”

Others are angry that they have to pay to watch Days of Our Lives now.

One wrote, “@nbc after watching #daysofourlives for more than 50 years, I’m finding since you moved it behind the paywall on @peacock that I’m not missing it so much. Life goes on,” while another commented that they are “not watching the network so much anymore either.”

“Should have never pulled Days of Our Lives out of network tv so many older fans don’t have peacock or broadband @nbc #dool #DaysOfOurLives no one wants to each infomercials all day,” a third person fumed.

Someone else added, “#DaysOfOurLives going to streaming on Peacock and no longer on #NBC sucks not everybody can afford to pay to watch & I can’t watch my Days stories…”

Days of Our Lives releases new episodes on weekdays at 6 a.m. ET / 3 a.m. PT on Peacock.
