Detroit Tigers doubleheader vs. Cardinals at Comerica Park postponed due to COVID-19

The St. Louis Cardinals' coronavirus outbreak has postponed another set of games against the Detroit Tigers.

Major League Baseball announced Monday the doubleheader between the Tigers and Cardinals on Thursday at Comerica Park has been postponed. 

It's unclear when or if the doubleheader will be made up.

This comes after a four-game series (Aug. 3-6) was rescheduled in the form of two doubleheaders — on Aug. 13 at Comerica Park and Sept. 10 at Busch Stadium.

Since the outbreak began, the Cardinals have had 17 positive tests — seven players and four staffers — and haven't played baseball in two weeks. The latest positive test was outfielder Lane Thomas on Aug. 9.

The Cardinals now have 45 days to play 55 games, after playing just five games in 2020 with 15 postponements.
