Elizabeth Olsen Denies ‘House of the Dragon’ Casting Rumors, Despite Being in Clan of Similarly Haired Siblings

Elizabeth Olsen may have auditioned for the role of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones once upon a time, and she may come from a family of iconic blondes, but those don’t necessarily mean she’s heading to Westeros anytime soon. The WandaVision actress recently opened up about — and denied — rumors that she would be joining the hit HBO show’s prequel, House of the Dragon.

“I don’t know how things, like rumors like that, get started, and then people think they’re legitimate,” Olsen told Entertainment Tonight, adding that the news had been reported to her as fact. “Dream casting is fun, yeah, but I heard it was, like, announced though, which is weirder.”

She continued, “I never heard of such a thing.”

However, the possibility is never off the table as the actress said she would be open to joining the cast if the opportunity presented itself.

“I mean, sure, yeah. [I’d like do to] anything that’s worth telling, that’s a good story, that’s innovative, that’s great, great characters,” she said.

So, who knows? Maybe we will get to see her riding a dragon someday.

In the meantime, Olsen gushed about how she would feel regarding a potential second season of WandaVision, telling the outlet, “We just we really had a great time making that show. It really was just a special time and so we would love to get the gang back.”

But before that happens, the actress is slated to star in the new HBO Max crime drama series, Love and Death, alongside Krysten Ritter and Jesse Plemons, which will premiere in 2023.

House of the Dragon airs on Sundays at 9/8c on HBO and HBO Max. Plus, you can stream all of WandaVision on Disney+.
