Florida plastic surgeon charged with killing lawyer hauling possible body: video

The Florida plastic surgeon charged with the grisly killing of an attorney last week was caught on video lugging what appeared to be a body wrapped in a blanket, according to police documents.

Dr. Tomasz Kosowski, 44, is accused of murdering attorney Steven Cozzi after he went to the bathroom at his Tampa law office in the middle of responding to an email, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Surveillance footage showed Kosowski arriving at the building at 8:32 a.m. and entering with a large box and a backpack.

Cozzi, whose firm had been representing Kosowski’s former employer in a protracted lawsuit he filed against them, arrived to work at 8:37 a.m.

Cameras later captured Kosowski exiting the building at 10:22 a.m. wearing a different set of clothes and “pulling behind him a large cart that appears to be heavy and have a red bag or blanket,” the document states. “It should be noted that the subject struggled with the weight of the cart…”

Minutes later, Kosowski dialed into a phone court hearing Cozzi was expected to participate in, but never joined. That call lasted roughly half an hour, police said.

Responding police scoured the bloody bathroom at Cozzi’s work and found white fibers that matched material they later discovered in Kosowski’s car. Detectives also lifted his fingerprint from a breaker room at the lawyer’s building.

Kowoski was later caught on another camera en route to his home in Tarpon Springs which showed a “red bag or blanket in a cart that appeared to contain what resembles a human body located in the bed of the truck.”

Detectives discovered blood smears inside the vehicle after executing a search warrant at Kosowski’s home.

They also uncovered a blood-smeared ballistic vest, masks, a taser, brass knuckles, duct tape and intravenous sedatives in the trunk of another car he owned, according to the paperwork.

“It is believed the victim is deceased and the defendant intentionally, by a premeditated design caused his death,” the document reads.

Cops initially responded to Cozzi’s workplace after a co-worker called 911 to report him missing.

The staffer told police his colleague failed to return to his desk — and that he was in the middle of answering an email while music played on his cell phone before the restroom break.

The worker said he saw pools of blood in an office bathroom and immediately feared foul play.

No body has yet been recovered in the case.

Cozzi’s employer, Blanchard Law, had been representing Kosowski’s former employer, the Laufer Institute for Plastic Surgery, in a case he filed against them in 2019.

The suit claims the woman who was assigned by the cosmetic surgery practice to handle Kosowski’s insurance billing had improperly filed claims and misled his patients. That misconduct, he alleges, ruined his online reputation and derailed his career.

“Dr. K’s promising young career has essentially been obliterated” by the woman’s actions, his lawsuit asserts. “Through no fault of his own, his career was put directly in jeopardy and his reputation has been deeply tarnished.”

Kosowski, a graduate of prestigious Dartmouth College is now facing a first-degree murder charge.
