In February 2017, at the Virginia Women for Trump Inaugural Ball, GOP Senate candidate Corey Stewart endorsed Paul Nehlen as one of his personal heroes.
Stewart is seeking the nomination after attempting to earn the GOP nomination for governor last year.
“One of my personal heroes, not from Virginia, but from the great state of Wisconsin, is Paul Nehlen, who had a lot of courage and took on Speaker [Paul] Ryan, and I can't tell you how much I was inspired by you,” Stewart stated.
Watch the video below:
Nehlen is a candidate in the Republican primary for U.S. Representative from Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District, which Paul Ryan is vacating in November.
Nehlen has previously shared articles on his Facebook account linking back to a known white nationalist website, The Daily Stormer.
Although he has not explicitly labeled himself as either anti-Semitic or as a white supremacist, according to Heavy, Nehlen's Twitter account boasted praise for Hitler and other racist memes. Nehlen's first run-in with Twitter occurred when he posted a doctored photo of Megan Markle with Prince Harry just after their engagement.
Nehlen also tweeted a list of his critics, writing, “Of those 81 people, 74 are Jews, while only 7 are non-Jews.” However, Facebook has not suspended his campaign page, which contains several other anti-Semitic graphics.
Breitbart News cut ties with Nehlen after anti-Semitic rhetoric and pro-white supremacist comments. The Republican Party of Wisconsin also denounced Nehlen's membership in February after his remarks, stating that “Nehlen and his ideas have no place in the Republican Party.”
However, Stewart's questionable association with other controversial figures stretches beyond Nehlen.
