With a decisive chawdown comeback, female record holder Miki Sudo, who was pregnant, skipped last year's candid fest and then brought down 40 Wieners and Vans to the female. I won the title.
Monday also shows that the contest has returned to a traditional location outside Nathan's Famous's flagship store in Brooklyn's Coney Island district. The event was relocated in 2020 and last year due to a coronavirus pandemic.
"It's beautiful to be back here," Chestnut told ESPN after his feat in front of a crowd of spectators. His feat was managed by a 38-year-old man wearing surgical boots due to an injury to his leg.
"It hurts, but I was in the zone for a while. I was ignoring it," Chestnut said, but the pain ended up in his 10-minute race. I slowed down the pace.
Last year, residents of Westfield, Indiana consumed 76 flanks and buns to break their record.
Sudo, Tampa, Florida, set a women's record of 48 1/2 Winners and Vans in 2020, but disappointed last year to take off. She and Nick Wally, a fast-eating eater who met at the Nathan's Contest in 2018, welcomed her son Max on July 8, 2021.
