Los Angeles Airport was partially closed as police investigated "suspicious vehicles"

The upper departure level at Los Angeles International Airport(LAX) was closed Wednesday evening as police investigated a "suspicious vehicle." 

During the investigation, traffic was diverted to lower arrival levels, LAX said in a series of tweets.

The Los Angeles Police Department's bond team responded to the scene. According to one source,Los Angeles FOX 11

passengers had access to the "most places" departure area. However, the closure affectedall vehicle trafficto vast airports, including Century and Sepulveda. Meanwhile, according to LAX, the shuttle did not operate, including economy parking.

Traffic into the airport was heavily impacted.

The airport advised travelers to allow extra time and check flight status. 

Police later cleaned up the vehicle and allowed guests to re-enter the affected area. 

"Traffic detours will soon end andvehicle trafficwill resume at all levels and roads," the airport said. "Sorry for being late. Thank you to the executives."
