McCarthy vows to investigate Trump raid, tells AG Garland to 'clear your calendar'

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy warned Attorney General Merrick Garland late Monday to "clear up your schedule," saying Republicans would will raid former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago mansion when it regains control of the House in November. 

"We've seen enough. The Justice Department has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization," saida California Republican . He tweeted shortly after news broke of the raid on the West Palm Beach property of the 45th president. 

"When Republicans take back the House, we will immediately monitor this department, follow the facts, and do whatever it takes," McCarthy added. "Attorney General Garland, please save your papers and clear your calendars." Secretary of State Chris Wray said the House should be called before a panel when it reconvenes for a vote later this week on a $740 billion appropriations bill called the Cut Inflation Act.
