Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green Books ‘60 Minutes’ Appearance After Threatening to Protest Trump’s Indictment

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene will be featured in Sunday’s (April 2) episode of 60 Minutes following her threats to protest former President Donald Trump’s indictment.

On the show’s Twitter account, they write that Greene “isn’t afraid to share her opinions, no matter how intense and in-your-face they are.”

The Georgia politician has long stirred trouble with her far-right ideologies and conspiracies.

Back in February, Greene made headlines for donning a fury white coat during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, where she also booed Biden and shouted “liar” during his speech.

A few days later, she took to Twitter to throw a fit over Sheryl Lee Ralph’s rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” during the 2023 Super Bowl, decrying the moving performance as an act of “wokeness”.

Recently, Greene posted veiled threats to protest Trump’s indictment. “I’m going to New York on Tuesday. We must protest the unconstitutional witch hunt,” she wrote on Twitter.

In a series of follow ups, she continued to say, “in Nancy Pelosi’s America, President Trump is jailed and MAGA Americans are ‘guilty until proven innocent,'” and called for New Yorkers to “put their MAGA hats on” and “protest the tyrants.”

On Thursday (March 30), Trump was indicted by a New York grand jury on Thursday in connection with a “hush money payment scheme” involving adult film star Stormy Daniels. According to CNN, the disgraced politician faces more than 30 counts related to business fraud and is expected to be arraigned in Manhattan criminal court next Tuesday (April 4).

In a description of Green’s 60 Minutes episode, CBS News writes that Greene is “a vocal member of the far right and close ally of former President Donald Trump” and will join Lesley Stahl for “a wide-ranging interview and profile.”

The synopsis continues, “Stahl speaks with the influential Republican congresswoman at her home in Georgia and meets in the halls of Congress in Washington, D.C., to discuss her America First, populist views as she continues her rise in the party.” The segment is produced by Richard Bonin.

The investigative program will also feature reports from journalists Sharyn Alfonsi and Bill Whitaker. Greene’s participation has been poorly received, with many arguing that CBS is giving her platform to air her dangerous opinions.

60 Minutes airs Sundays on CBS and Paramount+.
