‘RHOP’ star Mia Thornton: Why I threw a martini in Dr. Wendy Osefo’s face

“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Mia Thornton isn’t proud of throwing a martini in Dr. Wendy Osefo’s face in the upcoming season.

However, Thornton insists in an exclusive interview with Page Six that she was provoked during the explosive scene.

“I would just say sometimes people talk too much,” she says, teasing what led to the drink toss.

Despite her reasoning, the Amilleon London CEO is notably remorseful for her dramatic outburst.

“I do not think that anybody deserves to have a glass [thrown] in their face. I’m not perfect. I make mistakes. I have this thing with food, and it flying in the air, clearly,” she says, acknowledging the salad she slung at Candiace Dillard on “RHOP” Season 6.

“I’m going to work on tossing things. … I immediately go into this, like, ‘Oh, my gosh Mia, no one deserves to have anything thrown at them.’ Like, that’s real rude. I will own that. Self-accountability 101. It’s not the nicest thing to do to anybody.”

In the “Potomac” Season 7 trailer, Thornton, 37, lobs a glass full of alcohol at Osefo, 38, with their castmate and mutual bestie Karen Huger caught in the middle.

Osefo has called the beverage hurl “unwarranted” and even characterized it as a play for a memorable “‘Housewives’ moment” — a claim Thornton wants to shuts down.

“Well, I am a ‘Housewife,’ so I don’t look for ‘Housewives’ moments, OK? For the record,” she asserts to Page Six.

“Everybody has their own viewpoint on situations. All I have to say is tune in, see how it really plays out. I beg to disagree [with Osefo], but she is entitled to her opinion.”

Seemingly without hesitation, Osefo retaliated to the martini melee by calling Thornton a “crater-faced bitch,” a pointed insult that hurt the latter.

“It hurts because it’s something that I can’t necessarily do anything about. You immediately start to go into this spiral of, ‘OK, how do I fix it? How do I make sure that I remain mentally strong enough to not allow someone to judge me based off my physical exterior?’” Thornton says of her internal reaction to the affront.

“Because there’s so much more to Mia inside that I don’t want people to forever look at me and say, ‘Oh, you know, she has all these acne scars,’” she continues. “And what does that even matter?”

Thornton says the harsh remark was particularly painful given her turbulent childhood, during which she spent an extended period in foster care.

“Had I had proper parenting as a teenager, don’t you think someone should have taken me to the dermatologist?” she says, adding that she is doing everything in her power to save her teenage son, Joshua, from an unclear complexion.

“It’s funny because my child, my 14-year-old, is now starting to get acne, and I’m calling the top of the top doctors, and I’m like, ‘Get him in now. I don’t want anything showing up on his face. I don’t want him to have scars.’”

The mom of three believes the love she has for her family — also including her husband, Gordon Thornton, and their young children, Jeremiah and Juliana — mirrors the devotion Osefo has for her own brood: husband Eddie Osefo and their kids, Karter, Kruz and Kamrynn.

“I actually think we have a lot more in common than we think we do. We have these amazing, supportive husbands. We each have three beautiful children,” Mia says.

“Like, why don’t we have more playdates? I’m confused. Baby Juliana is like, ‘Mommy, I want to meet my new friend.’ And I’m like, ‘You know, her mom has to get on the same page here.’”

No matter if she is able to build a meaningful friendship with Wendy, Mia is quick to praise the professor, author, public speaker and political commentator.

“At the end of the day, we may have this love-hate toward each other. It’s like the power of the boss queens. She’s such a phenomenal female,” she says of her frenemy.

“She’s a powerhouse, and she’s brilliant, if you ask me, and I think when you put two type A personalities together, there’s going to be some tensions — or some martini tosses.”

“The Real Housewives of Potomac” Season 7 premieres Sunday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
