The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday that it would withdraw from Ukraine's Zmiinyi Island.
Russia used the Black Sea island near the port city of Odesa as a setting after occupying the Black Sea island in the early stages of the war, which began in late February.
Thursday's announcement came after the Ukrainian army's attack on Russia's position on the island.
