Serena Williams hints at retirement, says she's 'evolving away from tennis'

Serena Williams appears to be preparing to leave the professional tennis courts entirely. The legendary athlete, who has won countless titles in his nearly 30-year playing career, said in an essay published Tuesday in Vogue that the upcoming U.S. Open He later suggested that he intended to retire.

Williams, 40, currently plays in the Canadian Open. She won her first singles title this week, her first in just over a year. She also has another match on Wednesday. While continuing to face the world's top athletes in tournaments like Wimbledon and last year's French Open, Williams has turned more and more attention to projects outside of tennis in recent years.
