Multiple people were killed when two planes collided over a California airport, officials said Thursday.
around 3pm. A single-seat, single-engine Cessna 152 and a two-seat, twin-engine Cessna 340 collided while attempting to land at Watsonville Municipal Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The Watsonville Fire Department confirmed multiple casualties in the clash. The identities of those killed were not immediately revealed.
According to the FAA, no injuries have been reported on the ground.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the accident.
Watsonville Municipal Airport is located approximately 45 miles south of San Jose.
