Police said this was an "isolated incident" and the hospital remained open.
Police did not immediately identify the suspect, except that he was in his forties.
They said the man left the room and fatally stabbed a male patient in another room for unknown reasons.
The suspect then stabbed another patient in the hallway and was later detained in his room by a prison officer.
Police Lieutenant Jason Johansson said the suspect had been detained without incident,KLAS-TV report.
One man died from an injury, police said. The condition of the other victims was not immediately released.
Police said a murder investigator was on the scene and investigating the case.
