Northeast New England's summer heat wave won't abate

Heat advisories remain in effect in the Northeast and New England as extreme heat and humidity refuse to let up their impact on the region is.

From the Jersey Shore to Bangor, Maine, millions of Americans are at risk of heatstroke as temperatures soar into his 90s.

Sunday temperatures will be in the 90s across the region.

Washington, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and New York City are expected to be around 91 degrees in the afternoon.

Northern areas like Boston will be hotter. The city is expected to reach temperatures of around 94 degrees on Sunday afternoon.

Even northern New England will feel the heat on Sunday.

The temperature in Bangor, Maine is about 91 degrees.

Temperatures in southern and northeastern New England will remain in the 90s into the weekday.

But in northern New England, temperatures begin to drop.

Highs in Portland, Maine will stay around 77 degrees, while Boston will reach a high of 93 degrees on Monday.

By Tuesday, most of the extreme heat will be confined to areas south of Boston through New York City to Washington.

The temperature in NYC could reach as high as 96 degrees on Tuesday.

The Heat Advisory is in effect from Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore to New York City.

Most of New England is under heat advisory through Sunday evening.
