Yes, Tenoch Huerta has seen *that* viral tweet about his bulge in Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever. And according to the actor, there’s more to it than meets the eye.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Huerta confirmed that the movie did some creative editing to make him appear sex-less during his villain debut as Namor. The actor, who previously starred in Narcos: Mexico and The Forever Purge, has been stealing attention since the movie premiered, wooing audiences with his dreamy looks and noteworthy performance.
But one laser-focused fan wasn’t drooling over Huerta or applauding his skills after seeing his performance. Instead, they shared an interesting takeaway that quickly blew up up Twitter. User @belovasoup tweeted an on-set image of Huerta in costume, next to a screenshot of a similar image from the movie’s final cut, along with the caption, “Give Namor his penis back.”
Addressing the viral tweet, Huerta confirmed that his bulge was edited out of the movie’s final cut. “The only thing that I can say is: the original was the photo on the right. Without [the bulge]! That’s original,” he joked to Rolling Stone.
The actor added, “No, I mean, I’m not going to lie to people. Every man in the world, we have fragile masculinity, but not in that issue. I will say, the right one, the real one is the photo on the right.”
Hopefully, this will bring some comfort to the 127K (and counting) Twitter users who liked the original tweet.
Huerta is not the only superhero actor to be de-sexified as others pointed out in the thread that DC actors Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill were subjected to similar airbrushing.
But, a light at the end of the tunnel appeared during the promotion of Spider-Man: No Way Home as the trio of Spider-Man actors joked about each others’ crotches and butts during the press circuit.
