Reddit's "judgmental cat" photos are all the rage on the internet. A swarm of users on online platforms is posting pictures of important creatures that are causing hysterics and appear to cast suspicion on owners with curled lips and squinting eyes.
"[I] started singing out loud and saw my cat, Snagles, staring at me with a lot of judgment [sic]. Cat"Posted by Redditorlscraig Did.
The skeptical kitten is also looking cold on other social media platforms. The hashtag #judgmentalcat has more than 388,100 posts on TikTok.
But scratching the surface, these expressions may not mean what the owner thinks they are, experts say.
"The cat is unjudgmental ... there may be other things that are causing the expression. The cat feels cornered, or there is another cat nearby, or just a few. There may be some pain or another animal, "certified cat behavior consultant Marilink Leaguertold the post.
Conclusion: "People judge, it's a human characteristic It's not a characteristic of cats. "
So it's all harmless and adorable misunderstandings. But that may have a positive side.
"There are a lot of people," Krieger said. "They think it's cute and will make it feel warmer and more vague to cats, cat breeds, or the whole cat."
