‘The View’: Ana Navarro Is Angry That Ilhan Omar Was Ousted From House Committee While Marjorie Taylor-Greene Still Has Hers

The View kicked off today’s Hot Topics up with a discussion about Rep. Ilhan Omar getting voted off of the House Foreign Affairs Committee in Congress. Republicans claimed that Omar’s removal from the committee was due to that Omar has made and which have been widely denounced as ignorant and anti-Semitic, which she has apologized for.

The View’s Ana Navarro – who is a Republican herself – says that if Republicans really cared about anti-Semitism, Representatives like Marjorie Taylor Greene would also be stripped of their committee roles, as Taylor Green has made numerous controversial comments about Jews and other sensitive topics in the past.

“It’s certainly Republican hypocrisy,” Navarro began. “Look, I’m not a fan of Ilhan Omar, I disagree with her vehemently on her foreign policy, I think she’s dead wrong on Venezuela, on Cuba, on Israel, on many issues and I say that because the fact that I disagree with her doesn’t mean that I think this is okay.”

Navarro explained that while Republicans have ousted Omar, “they are elevating and embracing Marjorie Taylor-Greene. She said Jews started forest fires with space lasers! She said January 6 was done by BLM. She said Pelosi should be executed. She said school shootings weren’t real. She said Covid-19 is a hoax, and belittled the yellow star of the Holocaust in order to do it.”

Navarro also invoked known liar Rep. George Santos, who falsely claimed his grandparents fled the Holocaust (one of his many fibs), but has not been renounced by his Republican peers.

“You know what? It is the height of hypocrisy. It is hypocrisy that should make every American, whether your like Ilhan Omar or you don’t, whether you think she’s right or you think she’s wrong, it should make us all be disgusted,” she said.

“I don’t think it’s hypocrisy, I think this is pure racism,” Sunny Hostin added, reminding the panel that Donald Trump once spoke about the Somalian immigrant from by saying “send her back” to Africa.

Alyssa Farah Griffin chimed in, clarifying that she thinks the choice to bump Omar off the Foreign Affairs Committee is a good one.

“I’ve consistently said that Marjorie Taylor-Greene, Paul Gosar, they shouldn’t be on committees. I don’t think [Omar] should be on the Foreign Affairs Committee. This is a committee tasked with dealing with U.S. Israel relations,” she said. “She has shown a lack of understanding about anti-Semitism at a time when it’s on the rise in the U.S and around the globe… She does not understand the policies she’s working on.”

Joy Behar, who was moderating the conversation, wrapped it up by agreeing that the hypocrisy in Congress starts at the top. She pointed out several prominent Republicans, include House speaker Kevin McCarthy and Jim Jordan have also made anti-Jewish statements in the past.

“People use [anti-Semitism] all through history to win elections and win everything,” she concluded.
