Toddler dies after cement truck falls off overpass, vehicle crushed

A 1-year-old boy died in Houston, Texas after a cement truck landed on top of his car, officials said. 

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced that a child died in a "tragic incident" on Friday. Gonzalez said the cement truck lost control, overpassed an overpass, and landed on top of a car with four people in it. Residents included a 54-year-old woman, a 24-year-old woman, and two 22-month-old twins (a boy and a girl), KHOU reported.

{23 3 Lt. Simon Chen, deputy with the Harris County Sheriff's Office, said the boy had died. Cheng said it was reported in the state. 

The cement truck driver showed no signs of disability or poisoning, Cheng said. The Harris County District Attorney's Office is investigating and deciding whether to file charges. 

At her GoFundMe fundraiser hosted by her mother, Jennifer Resendis, the child was later identified as Nicholas Rescendiz. The family is "devastated by an unexpected and unimaginable tragedy," the fundraiser said. died in a horrific and freak accident when he fell on top of the car he was in," the fundraiser said. 

"Our family is still in shock and unable to process the loss of this sweet angel, but due to his mother having to make arrangements for his funeral. , I know the days ahead will be even more difficult."
