Unflinching fan stares at camera with creepy smile during Mets-A’s game

Good luck sleeping again.

A spectator in the stands at Oakland Coliseum during the A’s game against the Mets Friday night took a creepy twist.

During the fourth inning, SNY’s cameras panned to a woman in a neon yellow shirt staring directly at the camera with a smile frozen on her face. She kept that pose — unflinching — as the camera remained on her for an uncomfortable amount of time. A few pitches later, it happened again.

Earlier in the broadcast, she could also be seen standing in the seats directly behind the plate with that same smile and gaze into the camera. She kept the pose throughout the first inning until a security guard eventually told her to sit down.

The fans next to her appeared to be oblivious to her act.

Her full shirt could be seen while standing up, which had “SMILE” written on the front. Multiple reports stated it was part of a promotion for the horror movie “Smile,” which is soon-to-be-realeased in theaters.

Elsewhere, a fan at Yankee Stadium during the team’s 5-4 win over the Red Sox similarly sat directly behind home plate and stared at the camera with a smile. He did not have “Smile” written on his shirt, however, and it is not clear if he was part of the promotion as well.

The film will hit theaters on September 30. Sosie Bacon — Kevin’s daughter — plays the lead in the film, although a certain fan might already be stealing the show.
