A viral image shared on Twitter resulted in the South African Reserve Bank debunking claims. A fake Twitter account with the handle ‘@ReservebankSA’ shared an image of an R500 note. The caption read:

“We introduce to you the first sample of our possible new five hundred Rand note. #Bettereconomy.” The Reserve Bank said this is a fake account.

The father of the three children who died after consuming an energy drink laced with poison given to the kids by him has died.

A man who was being treated on an accident scene by medics was arrested for stealing a paramedic vehicle in Milnerton on Saturday night.

After coming through a crunching cold front last week, Gauteng is bracing for yet another ‘big freeze’ in a few days’ time. The mercury is set to plunge into sub-zero territory, and temperatures could drop to something nearing MINUS 8°C.

Forecasts from Gauteng Weather and Ventusky both plot a dramatic decline for thermometers across the province, with the chilly conditions coming into force overnight on Wednesday 15 June.

SA is NOT getting an R500 note or an R10 coin – Reserve Bank

A viral image shared on Twitter resulted in the South African Reserve Bank debunking claims. A fake Twitter account with the handle ‘@ReservebankSA’ shared an image of an R500 note. The caption read:

“We introduce to you the first sample of our possible new five hundred Rand note. #Bettereconomy.”

Since then, the official Twitter account for the Reserve Bank released a ‘statement’ of sorts. Taking to the bluebird app with a screenshot of the aforementioned post from the fake account, the Reserve Bank said:

“Please note that this is a fake account and has been reported to Twitter. SA Reserve Bank is not planning to issue an R10 coin nor an R500 note.”

Father who allegedly poisoned his kids DIES in hospital [UPDATE]

The father of the three children who died after consuming an energy drink laced with poison, given to the kids by him, has died.

The father of five who allegedly killed three of the children was in the hospital on the day he died, police said on Sunday.

The father was admitted to the hospital after trying to take his life on 26 May, the day of the incident.

‘Drunk’ patient STEALS paramedic vehicle at an accident scene

A man was arrested after stealing a paramedic vehicle at an accident scene in Milnerton, Cape Town on Saturday evening.

“On the evening of Saturday 12 June, at approximately 22:00 our response vehicle attended to a motor vehicle accident. The accident happened on the R27 at Sunset Beach where a car rolled onto its roof blocking both lanes of traffic.

“For scene safety the vehicle was parked in the fend-off position, with all its lights on, to warn motorists of the rolled vehicle on the road,”

Community Medics said in a statement.

According to the EMS service, one male who was in the overturned vehicle was initially assessed by the medic and then questioned by the police on the scene.
