Glenardo Johnson, 26, of Key West Street, expressed concerns about his safety when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt on Friday charged with the October 4 murder of Geovanny “Stickman” Lafleur.
The 32-year-old bus driver was shot in the head by a passenger who ran off the bus while it was stopped at the juncture of Robinson Road and Florida Court.
At the time of his murder, Lafleur was on bail awaiting trial for the 2015 murder of Luternier Exelus and the attempted murders of Stephon Bastian, Denario Andrews and Fredrick Morley in connection with a drive-by shooting on Matthew Street, Nassau Village.
Johnson did not have to enter a plea to the murder charge and was remanded to prison until March 19, 2023.
He told the magistrate that he feared for his safety because Lafleur led the Fire ‘n’ Theft gang and his stepfather works at the prison.
Ferguson-Pratt said that she would communicate his concerns to authorities; however, it was up to the commissioner of corrections to determine where he would be housed.
