The New York Jets placed offensive tackle Mekhi Becton on the injured list on Tuesday.
All 32 NFL teams had until 4 p.m. Cut the roster from 90 to 85 on ET Tuesday. His second cut from 85 to 80 will take place next Tuesday, after which all team rosters must be reduced to 53 by August 30.
Becton suffered an avulsion fracture of his right patella during practice last week. Keep him out for the entire 2022 season. Becton dislocated the same patella and sprained his right MCL in Week 1 of 2021 and missed the rest of the season.
Named as a potential solution for the Jets' left tackle in the 1st round of the 2020 draft, Becton joined his camp in training as the starting right tackle. .
The Jets also released defensive end Tim Ward, cornerback Luq Barcoo, offensive lineman Derrick Kelly, and wide receiver Rashard He Davis. Ward appeared in 11 games for the Jets last season, recording 12 tackles and two pass breakups.
– The Denver Broncos have sacked five of his players, including former fifth-round pick Jamer Johnson and former Philadelphia Eagles mainstay receiver Travis Falgham.
Fulgham has been a surprise performer for the Eagles in need of a receiver in 2020, with eight starts in 13 games. He caught his 38 passes for a team-high 539 yards and his four touchdowns. But he barely saw the field last year with the Broncos, and in one game he had two offensive snaps and he had seven special team snaps to play.
Safety Johnson appeared in just his three games last season and played only on special teams. He was named his 164th overall in 2021 by Indiana.
Denver also said goodbye to running back Max Borghi, wide receiver Kayden Davis and tight end Rodney Williams.
– The Washington Commanders have released former fourth-round draft pick Troy Apke, fellow cornerback Devante Bausby and guard Dion Calhoun.
Apke joined Washington in 2018 and spent four years in the team's secondary where he played 50 games (9 starts). He has 68 total tackles, 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery.
The Commanders also placed tight end Samis Reyes and fullback Alex Almar on the injured list. Reyes had 39 offensive snaps in 11 games (one start) last year, but was primarily a special teams contributor. He is the first Chilean-born NFL player.
– The Eagles waived wide receiver Lance Lenoir, safety Jared Maiden and cornerback Jimmy Moreland as injured.
Maiden appeared in his four games for Philadelphia last season, picking up six tackles. Moreland, who was a part-time starting pitcher for Washington in 2019 and 2020, was looking to stay with the third team after playing the 2021 season with the Houston Texans.
