A tragic fire broke-out at a medical facility in northern India yesterday causing deaths of 10 newborns in a neo-natal ward. The incident happened at Maharani Laxmibai Medical College (located bout 285 km south-west from Lucknow)
Emergency teams worked fast to get 38 new-borns out of the burning ward which had 49 babies at the time. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak told reporters that seventeen babies got medical help: some in the hospitals main wing and others in near-by private facilities
The authorities identified seven deceased infants while three remain un-identified‚ and one baby is still missing from the records (according to a govt source who cant speak officially). Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath started an inquiry to find what caused the fire
This heart-wrenching incident is deeply saddening. My deepest condolences to those who lost their innocent children in this. I pray to God to give them the strength to bear this immense loss
