Last years monsoon season brought unexpected heavy-rains to Malaysia causing the most severe flooding in about ten years. The non-stop downpour led to wide-spread evacuations affecting many regions of the country
The disaster-management data showed that more than 25000 families needed quick relocation (about 84000 people total) as flood-waters rose in seven states. The government opened up 488 make-shift shelters to house all displaced people
The north-eastern region took the hardest hit; especially Kelantan state which sits right next to Thailand — here officials had to move 56000 residents to safety. Its neighbor Terengganu saw around 21000 people leaving their homes. Sadly three people didnt survive this natural disaster
The flood-waters exceeded typical monsoon season levels; making it the worst flooding event since early 2010s. Local emergency-services worked non stop to help affected communities while weather-monitoring teams kept watching the situation closely
