A new education center in Washington D.C. features an exact replica of President Biden's Oval Office and immersive White House room experiences. The free attraction aims to educate visitors about presidential history.

In a groundbreaking development for Washington D.C.'s tourism landscape, a new educational center is set to open its doors on September 23, 2024, offering visitors an unparalleled opportunity to experience the White House like never before. The centerpiece of this innovative attraction is an exact replica of President Joe Biden's Oval Office, complete with meticulous attention to detail.

The "People's House: A White House Experience" education center, located just a block away from the actual White House, aims to provide an immersive journey through presidential history. Visitors will have the unique chance to sit at the president's desk, interact with a replica of the famous Resolute Desk, and even take simulated calls from world leaders.

This new attraction addresses the challenge of limited access to the real White House, which receives approximately 6,000 visitors daily. The replica Oval Office is designed to change with each administration, ensuring it remains an accurate representation of the current president's workspace.

Beyond the Oval Office, the center features an "Immersive Theater" that transforms every five minutes to showcase different rooms of the White House State Floor. These include the East Room, Red Room, Blue Room, Green Room, and State Dining Room. Visitors can interact with the walls to uncover historical information about the art, furniture, and significant events that occurred in each space.

The educational experience extends further with exhibits detailing the various functions of the White House. Visitors can participate in simulated Cabinet meetings, learn about state dinners, and explore the roles of key White House staff members through video presentations.

"This new immersive education center will take visitors on an incredible journey using technology and innovation to bring White House history to life."

First Lady Jill Biden stated

First Lady Jill Biden, who has visited the center twice during its construction, is scheduled to host an event on the White House lawn on September 21, 2024, to celebrate the opening.

The White House Historical Association, founded by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961, is behind this ambitious project. The association has raised $60 million for construction and initial operating costs, with plans to build a $50 million endowment for ongoing operations.

It's worth noting that the actual White House has undergone significant changes since its inception. With 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, and various amenities including a tennis court and swimming pool, the building has been renovated or expanded more than 40 times throughout its history. The Oval Office itself was only created in 1909 during William Howard Taft's presidency.

While the education center offers free admission, visitors must request timed tickets. The association anticipates welcoming around 800 visitors daily, with most spending just over an hour exploring the exhibits.

This innovative approach to historical education combines cutting-edge technology with meticulous recreations, offering a unique perspective on the American presidency and the iconic building that has housed it for over two centuries.
