Sergei Lavrov talked with Tucker Carlson in an eye-opening 80-minute discussion which happened just yesterday. During their back-and-forth chat the Russian minister shared his thoughts about US-Russia ties and current world events
The minister spoke about US-Russia relations in a straight-forward way: “We dont see ourselves at war with America right now“ he said‚ mentioning that normal ties with neighbors (especially the US) are what Russia wants. He pointed out some room for working together – even suggesting cooperation “for the sake of the universe“
The message is that you I mean the United States and the allies of the United States who also provide these long-range weapons to the Kyiv regime - they must understand that we would be ready to use any means not to allow them to succeed
Speaking about Donald Trump whoʼs expected to return to office next month Lavrov described him as a “very strong person“. The discussion touched on last months testing of new Russian weapons which the minister explained as a clear signal to Western countries
For any future peace deal Russia listed these must-have points:
- No NATO membership for Ukraine
- Ban on foreign military bases
- No international military training on Ukrainian soil
The interview which state TV showed to Russian viewers comes after Carlsons February talk with Vladimir Putin. Right now Russia holds about one-fifth of Ukraineʼs land – a fact thats important for any future agreements (as Trumpʼs team looks at different ways to end the almost 3-year-long conflict)
