Russian military forces made quick moves in east Ukraine taking control of two front-line settlements - one near Kurakhove (a key town in Donetsk region) and another in Zaporizhzhia area. Its their fastest progress since the conflicts start almost 3 years ago
Volodymyr Zelenskiy talked with top commander Oleksandr Syrskyi about the 600-mile front line situation: discussing defense needs and weapon supplies. The president stressed that eastern areas need more fire-power to push-back Russian moves. “The greater our armys firepower and tech abilities‚ the more we can destroy Russias offensive potential“ he said
We need significant reinforcement in Donetsk directions; this particularly involves weapons supply from our partners
The Ukrainian military reported that Russians made 38 attacks near Kurakhove; while conditions around Pokrovsk remain hard. However defense efforts in Zaporizhzhia show good results (despite losing one settlement there)
The US just gave a new $725-million military aid package; but theres worry about future support. The key focus is now on:
- Getting more long-range weapons
- Increasing local weapon production
- Making sure allies send help quick
- Strengthening eastern defense lines
