19-year-old man missing at sea in Tassie’s south

FRIENDS have reported their concern over a missing man who was long overdue to return from a kayaking trip.

Nineteen-year-old Valentine Bester left from Lauderdale Yacht Club, Roches Beach at 11am yesterday.

The friends reported their concern to Tasmania Police at 5.30pm.

Emergency services have been conducting extensive air and water searches in Frederick Henry Bay with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, two marine vessels and the Dodges Ferry Volunteer Marine Rescue Unit.

The Police Vessel Cape Wickman also assisted in the search.

Police have asked anyone who saw Valentine to come forward.

The police said they are particularly interested in speaking to the occupant of a white vehicle believed to have information on Valentine’s travel plans.
