Chefs Distribute Meals to Firefighters Near Site of Fire-Ravaged Three-Michelin-Star Restaurant

A group of charitable chefs said it has been distributing fresh meals to firefighters who are tackling devastating wildfires spreading across Napa Valley, California. World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit founded by celebrity chef José Andrés, said they have sent volunteers to feed crews working to save communities from the Glass Fire. This footage posted September 30 shows chef Tim Kilcoyne standing in the rubble of The Restaurant at Meadowood – a Napa Valley restaurant with three Michelin stars – which was burned to the ground earlier this week. “The firefighters are still working hard every day and trying to make sure the fire isn’t spreading anymore and trying to get a handle on it,” Kilcoyne says in the footage. “We’re doing what we can to help them keep going.” The Glass Fire had scorched 56,781 acres – about 89 square miles – and was 5 percent contained as of October 1, according to Cal Fire.
