Cricket star Michael Clarke’s luxury Bondi Beach apartment is set to be a spring hit following its listing with an $8 million guide.
The LJ Hooker Double Bay principal Bill Malouf confirmed this morning that three-bedroom, two-bathroom residence in the exclusive Cadigal block at 232 Campbell Pde, was up for sale in an expressions of interest campaign.
With its 200 sqm of internal space and incredible views of the sand and surf, he’s expecting it to be popular with both downsizers and professional couples.
“It will be popular because of its uniqueness — it gets a view of the whole of Bondi Beach,” Mr Malouf said.
“There’s not a lot of competitive stock out there so that will drive it ... there’s very little for sale in Bondi Beach or the whole of the eastern suburbs.”
The apartment hadn’t even hit realestate.com.au and he’d already had a call from a couple wishing to downsize from their home to something in the Bondi area.
It comes as no surprise that Mr Malouf has won the listing as he and his son, David Malouf, were photographed by News Corp photographers meeting with the former Australian cricket captain at the start of February.
Mr Malouf told the Wentworth Courier later that they were simply “discussing the market conditions”.
It was sage advice from Mr Malouf to hold off for a period as the market is now dramatically stronger heading into spring.
This is the apartment where Clarke briefly lived with former model Lara Bingle before he called off their engagement in 2010.
She is now married to actor Sam Worthington, while Mr Clarke and his wife, Kyly, now live in the Vaucluse home they bought for $8.5 million in 2014.
Clarke bought the apartment 10 years ago from his friend the celebrity accountant Anthony Bell for $6 million.
CoreLogic records show the apartment was listed for rent at $2800 a week in 2011 and in June this year for $4000 a week.
The record price in the block is $7.3 million in 2012 when Valerie Corrigan, wife of the waterfront union buster Chris, bought an apartment there.
