Organisers of the annual ‘Born And Raised’ music festival have pointed to Makhadzi’s failure to honour numerous local shows as their reason for dropping the South African Amapiano superstar from this year’s lineup.
The show organisers announced this week that Makhadzi will not be part of the show that is scheduled for Serowe Stadium on December 23rd. “We have noticed that Makhadzi has not been honoring local bookings hence we did not want to risk disappoint our patrons. Furthermore, we also know about her alleged lawsuits and her management company and with that kind of reputation it will be a risk to include her in the lineup, lest we disappoint our patrons,” he said.
Mojakgomo further added that they are doing their best to safeguard the the interests of their stakeholders. “We can’t afford the risk of jeopardising stakeholder relations by selling them a line up and fail to live up to it when the booked artist fails to show up. In addition, our patrons have expressed concerns as they do not want her in this year’s show thus we had to oblige because they are important stakeholders as well,” added Mojakgomo.
Meanwhile Mojakgomo hinted that in the buildup to this year’s festival they have done a number of activations- including one in South Africa and another one that’s slated for early December. “We are also going to announce a few more high profile artists who are going to be part of the show,” he said.
