A 34-year-old woman and her 10-month old daughter were found dead on the ground outside their apartment building in Asaka, Saitama Prefecture, on Sunday, in what police believe was a murder-suicide.
Police received a call at around 8:30 a.m. from a resident of the building, in which he said that a woman and a child were lying on the ground in front of the building, Kyodo News reported. The woman and her daughter were confirmed dead at the scene.
According to police reports, the woman was wearing a T-shirt and sweatpants but no shoes, while the baby only had on underwear and a diaper. There were bruises found on both bodies, which are believed to have been inflicted from the fall.
The mother, who was a company employee, lived in the apartment with her husband and daughter. Police are questioning her husband about what might have caused her to possibly commit suicide.
