Belgorod Shelling: 11 Injured in Cross-Border Attack on Russian Region

In a recent development along the Russia-Ukraine border, Ukrainian forces reportedly conducted a shelling attack on Russia's Belgorod region. The incident, which occurred on September 1, 2024, resulted in injuries to 11 individuals, including two children who sustained serious wounds.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the regional governor of Belgorod, reported the attack via the Telegram messaging app. He stated that the two young boys required immediate surgery due to the severity of their injuries, with one child suffering extensive wounds to both legs. Medical professionals were considering transferring the children to Moscow for advanced treatment.

The attack caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure, affecting 22 apartments and eight private residences. Additionally, more than 20 vehicles were damaged in the incident. Local residents reportedly provided initial first aid to the injured, shielding them from falling debris until emergency services arrived.

Last month, Ukrainian forces reportedly launched an incursion into the adjacent Kursk region, with Ukrainian officials claiming to have occupied dozens of settlements. This escalation highlights the intensifying nature of the border conflict.
