Deadly Blast at Indian Pharma Plant: 15 Killed, 40 Injured

The blast, which triggered a fire in the plant's chemical reactor, took place in the Anakapalle district, approximately 350 kilometers northeast of Amaravati, the state capital. M. Deepika, a police officer involved in the case, reported that many of the injured workers were in critical condition. The severity of the situation was further emphasized by distressing accounts of victims' skin peeling off, as reported by the Press Trust of India.

This incident is not isolated in the region's industrial history. In 1997, a blast at the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation refinery in nearby Visakhapatnam claimed 22 lives, marking one of the area's most severe industrial accidents.
