Prince William's fight against homelessness: New documentary coming soon

Prince William‚ Britains heir to the throne‚ is taking on a big job - trying to end homelessness. He started a project called “Homewards“ about a year and a half ago‚ which will last for five years. William says this idea came from his mom‚ Princess Diana‚ who showed him how bad homelessness was when he was a kid.

“I think everyone having a right to a safe and stable home benefits us all‚“ William says in a new TV show about his work. He also adds‚ “I come with no other agenda than desperately trying to help people who are in need‚ and I see that as part of my role“

Some people think its weird for someone like William (who has lots of money and houses) to talk about helping homeless people. But he doesnt agree: “Why else would I be here if Im not using this role properly to influence and help people where I can. And I like a big challenge‚ I do like that‚ but I cant do it on my own“

William has done some interesting things to learn about being homeless:
- He slept outside on a cold night about 15 years ago
- He sold magazines that homeless people usually sell‚ just two years back

His “Homewards“ plan works in six places around the UK. Its trying to find new ways to help end homelessness everywhere in the country. William is also giving out awards for a charity called Centrepoint‚ which helps young people who dont have homes
