A stray Labrador's attempt to board a doggy day care bus leads to a touching adoption story. The dog, now named Waylon, finds a loving home and finally gets his dream ride on the pup bus.
In Franklin County, Georgia, a heartwarming tale unfolded when a stray Labrador Retriever attempted to board a "pup bus" operated by Tyson Cash, owner of Keller Creek Boarding and Grooming. The incident, which occurred on July 16, 2023, set in motion a series of events that would change the life of this abandoned canine.
Cash noticed the unfamiliar dog accompanying one of his regular clients, Motley, a Labrador Retriever who had been attending the day care for over three years. When Motley boarded the bus, the stray attempted to follow suit. However, Cash couldn't allow the unknown dog on board due to potential health risks to the other canines.
"He wanted on the bus badly. He was doing everything he could to get on with the other dogs."
As Cash drove away, the determined Labrador chased after the bus, a scene captured on video and shared on social media. This poignant moment caught the attention of Sadie Peace, whose own Labrador, Nellie, was a client at Keller Creek.
Moved by the dog's plight, Peace decided to adopt the stray, now named Waylon. Upon bringing him home, she discovered he was in poor condition, showing signs of neglect and possible abuse. Peace and her boyfriend provided Waylon with much-needed care and affection.
Waylon, estimated to be 2-3 years old, quickly adapted to his new environment and formed a strong bond with Nellie. Peace noted that the two dogs have become inseparable companions.
