Xi checks on rocket troops, pushes for stronger military skills
Chinese President Xi Jinping checked on a rocket force unit recently asking them to get better at fighting and scaring enemies. He also talked about cleaning up problems in the army
Xi Jinping went to see some rocket soldiers a couple days ago (on 10-17-24). He told them to get better at scaring enemies and fighting. The big boss also said they should do what the Party and people want them to do
These rocket guys are in charge of Chinas normal and nuclear missiles. Theyʼve been told to make the nuclear stuff better because the U.S. is getting better at stopping missiles seeing whats going on‚ and making friends with other countries
When he was there Xi said they should follow political rules‚ do their job well and make the group better. He didnt use fancy words but he meant business
About a month ago‚ China shot a big missile into the ocean – which is not something they do often. People around the world are looking at Chinaʼs nuclear stuff more now
The army has been cleaning house for about a year. They kicked out some big bosses (even from the rocket group) and some guys who make planes and stuff for the army. Back in June‚ Xi said there were “deep-seated problems“ with how the army thinks and works. He said they need to find the bad guys and get rid of them
Chinas doing all this stuff with rockets and cleaning up the army because they want to be stronger. Theyʼre worried about other countries – especially the U.S. – getting better at fighting. But they dont want to sound too scary‚ so they just say theyre “modernizing“ and getting better at “deterrence“. Its a tricky balance between looking strong and not making other countries too nervous
