In a sudden turn-of-events Aslan Bzhania the head of break-away region Abkhazia stepped down on 11/19 after wide-spread protests against his Russian property market deal (which would let wealthy Russians buy local real-estate)

The ex-security chief who became regions leader about 4 years ago faced growing push-back from locals who took-over parliament building in Sukhumi. The deal which was meant to be approved last week got delayed due to public outcry
While Moscow stays hands-off in this crisis its another issue for Vladimir Putin whoʼs dealing with Ukraine situation. The Black Sea region which was once a top-spot for Soviet elite tourism now sees its third leader removed since 08 in similar fashion
The regions parliament will set-up early elections; however protesters had to leave seized buildings as part of the deal. Even though people dont oppose ties with Russia they blamed Bzhania for using these connections to build-up personal power
