Breaking news: New strikes hit Lebanon's capital as peace talks move forward

Recent air-strikes hit Beirutʼs busy Zuqaq al-Blat area (close to the government district) killing five people and leaving thirty-one hurt. Two more people are still missing after this attack — which marks the second hit on Lebanonʼs capital this week

The strikes come as peace talks move forward: Lebanon and Hezbollah have looked at the US peace plan and shared their thoughts about it. A top Lebanese aide Ali Hassan Khalil says: “We stick to UN rules from back in 06; but its up to the other side now“

  • Rocket fire hit northern Israel killing one woman
  • Tel Aviv faced drone attacks that hurt six people
  • Air-raid sirens went off across central Israel
  • Falling debris damaged a main street in Tel Avivʼs suburbs

Both sides keep trading hits: Hezbollah sends rockets and drones while Israel hits back hard. The fighting since late-September has forced over 1-million Lebanese to leave their homes. The numbers show big losses — Lebanese officials count 3‚481 dead on their side while Israel reports 116 casualties including soldiers and regular people

US peace-maker Amos Hochstein plans to visit Beirut soon. The deal would need fighters to move 30-km away from Israelʼs border: thats what the old UN rules say. A person close to the talks says “we still need to work out some details“ but this might be the best shot at peace so far
