Putin ready for Trump talks about Ukraine, but keeps firm position on demands

The Kremlin dont want to change its position on Ukraine even though Vladimir Putin is open to talks with Donald Trump. Its spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made this clear on 11/08/24‚ stating that Moscowʼs goals remain unchanged: their focus stays on protecting Russiaʼs security interests and Russian people living there

In mid-2024 Putin laid out his requirements — Ukraine must give up its NATO plans and pull-out from four regions that Russia says it owns. Volodymyr Zelenskiy quickly turned down these terms (which would mean giving up) and instead made his own counter-plan asking Western countries for more military help

Zelenskiy commenting on Trumps quick-fix promise

Trump who just won the election has been saying he could fix everything in 24 hours; however he hasnt shared any details about his plan. After winning Trump got praise from Putin for being brave during that assassination try back in summer — and the Russian leader mentioned heʼs ready to talk

The last time US and Russian presidents talked was right before the war started: Biden warned Putin about tough Western response. Now relations between countries are at their worst point ever; but Kremlin keeps saying its ready for talks (though nothing specific is planned yet)
