At a major business forum in Beijing this sunday Chinese and Indonesian officials made deals worth $10B covering food tech and clean-energy sectors. The event showed how close these countries work together (especially in new-energy and bio-tech fields)
The meeting happened right after Xi Jinping met with Prabowo Subianto: who became president early this year and picked China as his first stop abroad. This choice wasnt random - it shows how Jakarta wants to keep strong ties with Beijing
Both countries signed papers about working on these things:
- e-cars and batteries
- sun-power tech
- digital stuff
- mineral supply chains
- housing projects
- food trade
In the mining world Chinese company GEM made a big deal with PT Vale Indonesia to build an acid-leaching plant in Central Sulawesi; Chinese firms like Tsingshan and Huayou already control lots of nickel mining there
The tech side got interesting too - Indonesian company GoTo joined forces with Tencent and Alibaba to make better cloud systems. Both countries also want to make it easier for people to travel between them: theyll give out long-term visas and add more direct flights when needed
