Democrats kicked-off their house-takeover plan this week targeting un-contested GOP seats in four states. The effort comes after they missed house control by just 3 seats in recent elections
Mike Smith who leads House Majority PAC (a group working with Hakeem Jeffries) explained their ground-up approach: “We need to start early finding right people now seeing how GOP control in DC might change things“
The democratic strategists are looking at areas in:
- Arizona
- Michigan
- California
- Virginia
These places showed interesting shifts: while having republican roots many districts started leaning blue in past elections. The demʼs early-bird strategy focuses on finding local candidates who can connect with both sides of the political spectrum
The group thinks its smart to prepare now - instead of waiting till election season starts. They see real chances to flip seats in places where republicans ran unopposed last time; especially considering how voting patterns changed recently
The way we are looking at it is we have to start seeding the ground recruiting the right candidates now knowing that Democrats could shift the ground with Donald Trump and Republican control in Washington
The recruitment drive shows dems dont want to miss any opportunities in what they see as winnable districts. Their focus is on finding candidates who understand local issues and can appeal to moderate voters
