Hamas leader Sinwar killed in Gaza: What's next for the conflict?

Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar died in Gaza six months ago. His death might change the wars course but its unclear if itll end soon Netanyahu should use this chance to talk about stopping the fight and freeing hostages

Six months ago‚ Yahya Sinwar the Hamas leader met his end in Gaza. Israeli forces took him out by chance as he moved with other fighters above ground (not in tunnels with hostages as some said). This fits the man who planned the attack on Israel a year ago that killed 1200 people mostly non-soldiers.

Sinwars death was a big win for Israel but it might not stop the fight soon. Netanyahu the Israeli leader‚ said after Sinwar died “This is the start of the time after Hamas“. But Israel needs a clear plan for Gaza after Hamas thats ok with other countries in the area and Palestinians too or this win might not mean much.

The Hamas attack a year ago made Israel hit Gaza hard. This caused lots of people to suffer and the fight grew to include other groups that Iran helps. But the war isnt going well for Hamas or its friends as Sinwars death shows.

Sinwar hurt both Palestinians and Israelis. He killed Gazans he thought were helping Israel when he was young. His choices led to many deaths in Gaza from Israeli bombs this past year. He put fighters and weapons near regular people and made tunnels all over Gaza‚ which is against the rules of war.

The death of Sinwar might create a chance for new talks on stopping the fight and freeing hostages

Jake Sullivan‚ US national security adviser‚ said

Netanyahu should try to make a deal now. If fighting stops hostages can leave Gaza‚ lots of help can go in‚ and people on all sides will suffer less. This might also help end the fight between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon which started right after the Hamas attack.

Biden needs to keep pushing Israel to make a deal and stop trading missiles with Iran. His reasons are stronger now that Sinwar is gone. Israel is winning battles but needs a good plan for what comes next
