The Israeli defense sector made a big-time move today signing a $5.2B deal with Boeing for next-gen F-15 jets. The mega-deal (which is part of US support package) includes 25 aircraft and leaves room for 25 more down-the-road
These super-advanced F-15IA planes wont show up right away - first deliveries are set for 2031 with 4-6 jets coming each year. The aircraft will have special features: longer flight range better payload capacity and compatibility with Israelʼs own weapon systems
Eyal Zamir who runs the defense ministry points out: “The new F-15 group plus our third F-35 squadron bought earlier this year shows how were boosting our air power - something thats been key in our current operations“. He also mentioned that Israelʼs spent about $40B on military stuff since last fall
While focusing on immediate needs for advanced weaponry and ammunition at unprecedented levels‚ weʼre simultaneously investing in long-term strategic capabilities
The deal marks Boeings second win in Israel this year; just a few months back they beat out Airbus for a sweet deal with El Al airlines. Ido Nehushtan from Boeing Israel says their partnership goes way back to when Israel first started and theyll keep working through normal military channels to get these planes ready
The new jets are meant to help Israel keep its edge in the air - something thats pretty important given whats happening in the Middle East right now. With better range and firepower these F-15s will work alongside other modern jets to handle whatever comes up in the region
