Last-minute campaign switch leads to unexpected White House race outcome
Democratic party faces hard questions after **Kamala Harris** loses presidential race to **Donald Trump**. Late campaign changes and unexpected voter shifts created a surprising election-day result
In a post-election mood shift democratic officials are asking tough questions about their partys strategy after Kamala Harris lost to Donald Trump in the Nov 6th presidential race
The democratic campaign faced several set-backs after Joe Bidenʼs summer TV-debate performance led to his un-expected withdrawal. A high-ranking party member (who asked to stay un-named) pointed to serious mis-steps in handling the transition: “No one would tell him no; the whole inner-circle just went along“
The short-notice candidate switch created un-forseen problems for Harris who joined the race just three months before voting day. Her close ties to Bidenʼs policies didnt help win over new supporters; her early ABC show appearance where she backed previous administration choices turned into a major set-back
Exit polls showed surprising shifts in key voter groups. Young people and women - who were thought to be solid democratic supporters - moved towards Trump:
- Under-45 voters increased support by 2%
- Female voters showed similar growth
- Suburban areas saw unexpected republican gains
- Hispanic communities backed Trump more than before
While I concede this election I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign
The campaign team waited at Howard University on tuesday night while Harris stayed at her DC home. She appeared next day to give her good-bye speech thanking Biden for his support
