Meta Platforms made a big-time move in clean energy market today signing contracts for solar power credits from four new projects
The tech-giant partnered with Chicago-based Invenergy to build solar farms in four states: Ohio Texas New Mexico and Arkansas. These eco-friendly installations will add up to 760 megawatts of power (enough to keep lights on in about 130‚000 homes)
The new deal fits into Metas larger green-energy plan — the company already works with solar providers geo-thermal tech and even looks into nuclear options for its power-hungry data-centers. All new solar sites should connect to power grid between now and 27
Our goal is supporting all operations with 100% clean energy
The agreement includes these key points:
- Four separate power contracts with Invenergy
- Solar farms in different climate zones
- Green energy credits instead of direct power use
- Total power equal to 130k homes needs
This multi-state project shows how big tech companies change their power use habits; Meta doesnt just buy electricity — it helps create new clean-energy sources across America
