Russian military takes control of Selydove and Hirnyk in eastern Ukraine marking their fastest advance in recent months. About 10000 North Korean soldiers have moved to Russia for training purposes

Russian forces made significant progress in eastern Ukraine capturing two more towns as their advance speeds up. Andrei Belousov announced the seizure of Selydove (a town of 20‚000 pre-war residents) and praised the 114th motorised rifle brigade for taking Hirnyk which sits bout 12 km away

The military push shows Moscows biggest weekly gain since early-2024; taking nearly 200 square kilometers of territory in just one week (according to data from Ukrainian sources). Pro-war channels report that Russian units broke through key defense points in southern Donbas and are now moving to surround Kurakhove

  • Russia controls Crimea peninsula
  • About 80% of Donbas region
  • More than 70% of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson areas

The conflict — which started about two and half years ago — enters a new phase with North Koreas involvement. NATO confirmed that Pyongyangs military units moved to Kursk while the Pentagon estimates around 10‚000 troops arrived for training. The U.S. stated it wont put new limits on Ukraineʼs use of American weapons because of this development

Ukrainian forces dont directly address these claims but report 31 combat encounters near Selydove area. The Deep State intelligence map shows partial Russian control of the town with some areas marked as disputed territory. To gain full control of Donbas Moscow needs to capture about 10‚000 more square kilometers
