OPERATOR of the US$19 billion PNG LNG Project, ExxonMobil PNG has come on board as the third platinum sponsor for the Inaugural Papua New Guinea (PNG)-Asia Investment Conference in Hong Kong.
Hosted by the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum under the theme ‘Partnership for Prosperity’, the PNG-Asia Investment Conference will take place at the Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel from the 16th to 17th of October 2023.
With registration numbers and sponsorship takers picking up, the conference is expected to be well attended with delegates including representatives of some of the largest investment houses and organisations in China and other Asian markets, as well as business and government leaders from PNG.
It will showcase the strong and enduring success of Asian investment into PNG, the robust trade linkages between Asia and PNG and particularly delving into how PNG is actively catalyzing the growth of Asian investments through its energy sector and other export avenues.
PNG LNG Project, being a major supplier and has four long-term customers in the Asia region particularly, Sinopec, JERA Co.Inc, Osaka Gas Co. Ltd, and CPC Corp. Taiwan, and is a classic example of the success stories the conference sets to highlight.
ExxonMobil PNG Chairperson and Managing Director Tera Shandro said ExxonMobil’s Outlook for Energy predicts by 2050 the world population will increase by around 2 billion people and to meet this demand natural gas will play a critical role thanks to its abundance, low cost, and ability to reduce emissions.
